Delete your account
Deleting your account removes your recipes, plans and everything else you saved, right away. There is no waiting period and no way to get it back.
Before you delete#
- Download a copy of what you want to keep. See Export your data.
- If you only want to stop paying, cancel your plan instead and keep your account. See Change or cancel your plan.
- If you pay for a Family plan, the other members lose Family access when your account is deleted. Tell them first.
You do not need to cancel your plan yourself. Deleting your account cancels it for you, straight away, before anything is removed.
Delete your account#
- 1
Open Settings and go to Danger zone
The Danger zone is the last box on the page, under Security & data. On a phone, tap your profile picture at the top right, then scroll to the bottom. You'll see: A red Delete my account button is at the very bottom.
- 2
Press Delete my account
You'll see: A box appears that says Type DELETE to confirm. Nothing is deleted yet.
- 3
Type DELETE in capital letters
It has to match exactly. Press Cancel next to the button to change your mind and close the box. You'll see: The Permanently delete button switches on. It stays off until the box says exactly DELETE.
- 4
Press Permanently delete
This is the point of no return. The button says Deleting… for a moment while we cancel any plan and remove your data. You'll see: A note says
Account deleted
and you land on the sign-in page.
No refund for paid time left
Deleting your account cancels your plan at once and does not refund the days you already paid for. If that matters, cancel instead and keep the account until your plan ends. See Change or cancel your plan. This cannot be undone
We cannot restore a deleted account, recipe or photo. You can sign up again with the same email, but you start with an empty account. What is deleted and what is kept#
Deleted at once#
- Your sign-in details and profile, including your display name and username.
- Every recipe, collection and bookmark. That includes recipes and meals you shared with a household: they disappear for the other members too.
- Your cooking log, meal plans, nutrition goals and food diary, and pantry.
- Your household membership. If you own a household, the household is removed.
- Your referral records, API keys and the record of which emails we sent you.
- Your paid plan, which is cancelled with Stripe first so you are not billed again.
Kept for a while#
- Billing records. Stripe keeps invoices and payment history for up to 7 years for tax and accounting. That is held by Stripe, not in your RecipeClip account.
- Overall AI costs. We keep totals for our own accounts. They are no longer linked to you.
- Photo and video files. Your account no longer points to them and they stop appearing anywhere. The files themselves are not yet purged from storage at the same moment. Email support@recipeclip.app if you want one confirmed as removed.
The full list is on the public Delete your account page, and in our Privacy Policy.
If you cannot sign in#
You do not need to sign in or reinstall the app. Email support@recipeclip.app from the address on your account with the subject Delete my account
. We check that you own the account and finish the deletion within 30 days. If you can sign in, the steps above are faster because they work at once.
Common questions#
I have a paid plan. Will I be charged again?#
No. We cancel the plan first. If we cannot cancel it for any reason, we stop and do not delete your account. You see an error that asks you to email support, so you are never left paying for an account that is gone.
I sign in with Google. Is it different?#
No. The steps are the same. You are not asked for a password.
The delete button did not work.#
If you see Couldn't delete your account. Nothing was removed
, try again. If it keeps failing, email support@recipeclip.app.
