Start a free trial or upgrade
You get one free trial of 14 days for each person. Before checkout, RecipeClip checks your account history, and the buttons only mention a trial if you can still have one. If it is your first trial, you are not charged until it ends and you can cancel before then.
Start your free trial#
- 1
Open Settings
Tap your round profile picture at the top right of the screen. You can also tap More in the bottom bar, then Settings.
Click the round button with your initial and plan name (such as Pro) at the top right. This is the Account menu. Then choose Settings.
You'll see: The Settings page opens on Account & plan.
- 2
Press Start 14-day free trial
The button is in the Plan box, under the list of what Pro adds. Pick $6.99/mo or $59/yr first if you already know which you want. You can change it again at checkout. You'll see: The checkout page opens for Pro.
Want to compare first? Press Compare all plans next to the button to see Free, Pro and Family side by side. Cooking for a household? Press Get Family lower in the same box.
Other places to start
The Try Pro free for 14 days button on the plans page does the same thing. So does any message that says a feature is part of Pro, such as when you reach your free limit. If you have had a trial or a paid plan before, the buttons on Settings and the plans page say Upgrade to Pro, and on the billing page the plan cards say Choose Pro and Choose Family. The checkout shows what you pay today. If you already have a paid plan, the plans page shows Your plan · Manage billing on your plan instead of a start button.Choose monthly or yearly#
Yearly costs less over a year. Monthly lets you stop at any time without having paid ahead. A first-time subscriber gets the free trial on either one.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $6.99 | $59 |
| Family | $11.99 | $99 |

Switch between Monthly and Annual at checkout
The switch is at the top of the order box on the left of the checkout page. On a phone the order box sits above the card form. You'll see: The price and the date of your first charge update.
Check out#
Checkout is a RecipeClip page with a secure card form from Stripe, our payment processor. Your card details go straight to Stripe. RecipeClip never sees your card number.
- 1
Read the order box
Check the plan name and the first charge date before you go on.You'll see: It says how many days are free and the date of the first charge, for example
14 days free, then $6.99/month starting
and a date. - 2
Enter your card
Use the card you want charged when the trial ends. Your email is filled in for you. On a computer the card fields are already open. On a phone, tap Card in the list of payment methods first. Then type the card number, expiry date, security code and ZIP code. You'll see: The card fields fill in and the button below them turns orange.

Press Start Pro free for 14 days
The button is greyed out and says Select a payment method until the card details are complete. Then it names the plan. Nothing is charged today on a first trial. If the order box shows an amount due today instead, your trial was skipped (see below). You'll see: A page says
You’re on Pro
, with a Start cooking button.
Starting Family
Choose Family on the plans page instead. After checkout, open Start a household to invite up to 5 other people. When the trial ends#
On day 15 the trial turns into a paid plan and your card is charged the price you chose. Nothing else changes. Your recipes, plans and settings stay as they are. We also send a reminder email near the end of the trial.
To see the date, open Settings, then Manage billing. The plan box shows how many trial days are left and when the first charge happens.
To stop before the first charge, cancel from the same page. You keep Pro until the trial ends and you are not charged. The plan box then says Your trial ends
with the date.
The steps are in Change or cancel your plan.
Pro or Family#
- Pick Pro if it is just you. Unlimited recipes and collections, and the AI tools.
- Pick Family if you cook with other people. It is Pro for 6 people on one bill, with one shared meal plan and grocery list.
You can switch later. The full list of what each plan includes is in Free, Pro and Family.
Common questions#
Who gets the free trial?#
One trial for each person. RecipeClip checks your account history before checkout: a trial you started before, even one you cancelled and never paid for, or any earlier subscription, means no new trial. The buttons then say Upgrade to Pro, and the order box at checkout shows what you pay today.
Checkout wants money today.#
Your account has had a trial or a paid plan before, so there is no new trial. Checkout always shows what you pay today before you confirm, and nothing is charged until you press the button. Use the arrow at the top left of the page to leave without paying.
Can I use a card that was used for a trial on another account?#
Yes. A card that was used for a trial before does not cancel or downgrade your plan. If your account can still have a trial, yours runs as normal.
Do I need a card to start the trial?#
Yes. The card is only charged when the trial ends, and only if you have not cancelled.
Where do I update my card or download a receipt?#
On the billing page. See Payment methods and invoices.
Something went wrong at checkout.#
If the page says it could not open checkout, nothing was charged. Press Try again. If it keeps failing, email support@recipeclip.app.
