Set daily nutrition targets

Pro or Family

Tell RecipeClip how many calories and how much protein, carbs, fat and fiber you want in a day, and every day shows how much is left.

Set your targets#

  1. 1

    Press Set targets

On the Nutrition page, the summary card has a button called Set targets, next to the words Set a target for the day.

You'll see: A sheet titled Daily targets opens.

  2. 2

    Fill in your numbers

The sheet starts with a ready-made set: 2,000 calories, 150 g of protein, 225 g of carbs, 65 g of fat and 30 g of fiber. Change any of them. Name is just a label for you, such as Maintenance or Cutting.

You'll see: The five boxes show your numbers.

  3. 3

    Press Save targets

Your targets are the same for every day, until you change them.

You'll see: The sheet closes, a message says Targets saved, and the summary card now counts down from your target.

Not sure what to pick?

RecipeClip does not tell you what your numbers should be. If you do not have a target from a doctor or dietitian, the starting set is a place to begin, not advice.

Change your targets later#

  1. 1

    Press the Daily targets icon

It is the small sliders icon beside Log at the top of the Nutrition page. Change the numbers and press Save targets again.

You'll see: The same Daily targets sheet opens with your saved numbers.

Days you already logged are measured against your new numbers, not the old ones.

See how you are doing#

The summary card#

The big number is how many calories you have left, with the label kcal left. If you pass your target the label changes to kcal over. Under it, a line such as 46% of the target is the share of your calorie target you have eaten so far. On a phone, tap On the plate to open the three columns Prot, Carb and Fat. They show the grams eaten, the percentage of that goal, and how many grams are left or over. Fiber has its own line and says target met when you get there.

The day total#

At the bottom of the meal list, Day total gains two more rows when you have targets: Target and Left. A number you have gone over is shown with a minus sign.

The week strip#

In the strip at the top of the page, a day you went over your calorie target gets an orange dot, and a thin line marks the target on the others. That is the quickest way to spot a heavy day.

What Free accounts see#

Everything in the diary still works on Free. Without Pro, an account that never set targets sees the words Pro adds daily targets and a button called See Pro targets. Pressing it opens a box titled Daily targets — part of Pro, with Try Pro free for 14 days. Setting or changing targets needs Pro. Targets you set while you had Pro keep showing after you leave. See the questions below.

See Free, Pro and Family for what each plan includes.

Common questions#

Can I have a different target for weekends?#

No. There is one set of targets, and it applies to every day.

Are there targets for sodium or sugar?#

No. Targets cover calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber. On a computer, sodium and sugar are still added up in the day total.

What happens to my targets if I leave Pro?#

You can keep logging on Free. Targets you set earlier keep showing, and the diary keeps counting down against them. Setting or changing them needs Pro.
