Find your recipes

The Recipes page is your whole library, newest first. Search it, narrow it to the ones you love, and change how it looks until the one you want is easy to spot.

On a computer, click Recipes in the top bar. On a phone, tap Recipes in the bottom bar. The line under the title tells you how many recipes you have, for example 14 recipes saved.

  1. 1

Tap or click Search your recipes… and type

Type a word from the recipe’s name, such as chicken. Capital letters do not matter.

You'll see: The list narrows as you type, and the line under the title changes to 5 recipes matching.

  2. 2

Clear the box to see everything again

Delete the word. If you have also picked a tab or tag, press Clear filters to reset those too.

Search reads recipe names only

It will not find a recipe by an ingredient or a word in the steps. To find recipes by what is in your kitchen, use What can I cook?.

Favorites and bookmarks#

A favorite is a heart. A bookmark is a second shelf for recipes you want to come back to. A recipe can be both. The Favorites and Bookmarks tabs show only those recipes.

  1. 1

    Switch to List view

Tap the middle one of the three view buttons (see Grid, list or board).

You'll see: Each recipe becomes a row with three dots at the right.

  2. 2

Tap the three dots on a recipe

Tap Favorite or Bookmark. The row now shows a small heart or bookmark mark. Open the menu again to see Remove favorite or Remove bookmark. On a recipe page you can also use More options, then Add to favourites.

You'll see: A small menu opens with Favorite, Bookmark and Delete.

  1. 1

Point at a recipe card, then click the heart

A heart and a trash can appear in the top right corner of the photo when you point at the card. The heart’s label is Add to favourites. Click it again to remove the favorite.

You'll see: The heart fills in, and a small filled heart now sits at the bottom of that card.

  2. 2

To bookmark, switch to List view and open the three dots

Bookmarks are only in the list view’s menu, not on the cards.

You'll see: The menu has Favorite, Bookmark and Delete.

  1. 3

Press Favorites or Bookmarks above the list

Press All to go back to the full library.

You'll see: Only those recipes stay. If there are none, you see No favorites found or No bookmarks found with a button to clear the filter.

Filter by tag#

Tags are your own labels, like Weeknight or Soup. You add them on a recipe page (see Use a recipe page). Until you have made at least one tag, the Tag button does not appear on this page.

  1. 1

    Press Tag

You'll see: A list of your tags opens, each with the number of recipes that carry it.

  2. 2

    Pick a tag

You can combine a tag with Favorites, Bookmarks or a search.

You'll see: Only recipes with that tag stay, and the button shows the tag name. Choose Clear tag filter or Clear filters to leave.

Grid, list or board#

The three buttons at the right of the filter row change the layout. The page remembers your choice on that device. Grid is the default: cards with a photo, the time and servings.

  1. 1

Press the middle button for List view

You'll see: Each recipe is one row with a small photo. It is the fastest way to scan many names, and the only view with the three-dot menu.

  2. 2

Press the last button for Board view

You'll see: A wall of tall photos with the name underneath each one. Good for choosing by looks.

  3. 3

Press the first button to go back to Grid view

You'll see: Search and filters stay as they were.

Pick several recipes#

Select mode lets you choose a few recipes and delete them together. They go to Trash, so you can still get them back for 30 days.

  1. 1

    Press Select

On a phone, tap the checkbox icon next to the Tag button instead.

You'll see: Every card gets an empty checkbox, and a bar appears with Select all, a count and Done.

  2. 2

    Tap each recipe you want

Tap a recipe again to un-pick it. Select all picks everything that is showing, so a search or tag filter narrows what it picks.

You'll see: A tick appears on the card and the bar counts them, for example 3 selected.

  3. 3

Press Delete 3, or Done to stop

The number on the button is however many you picked.

You'll see: A box asks Delete 3 recipes? and says they move to Trash. Done leaves Select mode without changing anything.

The Tools strip#

Scroll to the bottom of the Recipes page. A strip called Tools holds a few small cards. Each one links to its own guide.

  1. Install RecipeClip shows how to add the app to your home screen. It disappears once you have done it. See Put RecipeClip on your home screen.
  2. Cook tonight suggests three dinners from your pantry and recipes when you press Pick 3 dinners. See Find recipes from what you have.
  3. The plan meter shows on the Free plan: recipes saved out of 50, and AI imports left this month out of 20. It also says you can keep 3 collections. Upgrade opens the plans. See Free, Pro and Family.
  4. Nutrition goals leads to daily nutrition targets. Free accounts see See what Pro adds here.

Common questions#

Search did not find my recipe#

Search only reads titles. Try a word from the name. Also check the tabs and the tag button: Favorites, Bookmarks or a tag hides everything else until you press Clear filters.

Where did a recipe I deleted go?#

Open Trash at the top right of the Recipes page. See Delete and restore recipes.

Where are my collections?#

Collections have their own page: Collections in the top bar, or under More on a phone. See Organize recipes into collections.

Next: Use a recipe page.
