Your settings

Settings is one page with five sections: your account and plan, your preferences, your diet and allergens, your household, and security and data. Most changes save as you make them; the diet card has its own save button.

Open Settings#

  1. 1

Open the account menu and choose Settings

Tap your round profile picture at the top right. Or tap More in the bottom bar, then Settings.

Click the round button with your initial and plan name (such as Pro) at the top right, then Settings.

You'll see: The Settings page opens.

On a computer, a list on the left jumps between the sections: Account & plan, Preferences, Diet & allergens, Family and Security & data. On a phone the sections stack, so scroll down.

Account and plan#

The first card has four things.

  • Email. The address you sign in with. Settings shows it but does not change it.
  • Plan. Your plan and what it costs. Free accounts see what Pro adds and a button to start a free trial, or Upgrade to Pro if they have had a trial before. Paid accounts see Manage billing. See Start a free trial or upgrade and Change or cancel your plan.
  • Sign-in methods. Whether Email & password and Google are connected. A Google-only account shows Email & password as Not available. See Sign in and passwords.
  • Give a month, get a month. Your personal link for friends. See Give a month, get a month.

Your usage#

On the Free plan, a card under the first one shows how much you have used. Recipes counts your saved recipes against the limit of 50. AI imports left this month counts down from 20. An Upgrade button sits at the top right of the card. Pro and Family accounts do not see this card because they have no recipe limit.

More about what counts as an AI import is in Free, Pro and Family.

Weekly email digest#

A short email every Sunday with your meal plan, your top saved recipes and ideas for next week. It is off until you turn it on.

  1. 1

    Turn on Weekly email digest

The switch is at the top of Notifications. Turn it off the same way.

You'll see: A note says Weekly digest on and a Send it to box appears.

  2. 2

Check the address in Send it to, then press Save

A new address gets a confirmation email first. Digests do not go there until you open the link in it. Under the box, a line says when the last one was sent, or Never sent yet. Press Send one now to get one right away and see what it looks like.

You'll see: The new address is saved and a confirmation email goes to it.

Haptic feedback#

A small buzz when you tap and when you check off an item. It only works on phones that can vibrate, and it is saved on that device, so set it on each phone you use.

Food interests#

These are the cuisines, diets and kinds of weeknight you chose when you signed up. They shape what RecipeClip suggests, and the box says so: These only shape what we suggest. You can pick up to 12. Chips such as Vegetarian or Gluten-free here only change suggestions: they set no diet or allergen and never make a warning appear. For that, use Diet & allergens; see Set your diet and allergies.

  1. 1

Tap a choice to turn it on or off

Once you reach 12, the rest are greyed out. Turn one off to pick another.

You'll see: The choice fills in and saves at once. There is no Save button.

Under the choices, Replay it opens the first-run walkthrough again.

Who sees new recipes#

Privacy has a Private and Public choice. It says that new recipes you save start as Private or Public, whichever you pick, and that you can change any recipe later. A note confirms each change: New recipes will start as Public or New recipes will start as Private. The choice applies to every way of adding a recipe: a link, photos, a video, typing one in, the browser extension and your AI assistants.

Public means a new recipe has a link anyone can open, is listed on Explore, and can be found through search engines like Google. Copies you fork from other people’s recipes, and AI remixes of your own, always start private. If RecipeClip cannot publish a new recipe, it saves it as private and says Saved as private: we couldn’t publish it. You can make it public from the recipe page. See Choose who sees a recipe.

The calorie and macro goals are not on this page. Press Open Nutrition in the Nutrition box to go where you set them, described in Set daily nutrition targets.

Display name and username#

Display name#

Your household sees this name on the member list, the calendar and every meal you plan. It is not your username or your email. Until you set one, your household sees the part of your email before the @.

  1. 1

Type a name in Display name and press Save

The name can be up to 60 characters. Save stays grey until you change it.

You'll see: A note says Name updated.

Username#

Your username is part of every public recipe link, such as recipeclip.app/u/yourname/recipe-name. You can choose it once, so pick carefully. Once it is set, a Permanent label appears and it cannot be changed again.

If you left it blank, RecipeClip picks one for you the first time you make a recipe public, and you still get one change. A Public profile page switch sits below the username. It is off for new accounts. It decides whether your profile address opens for other people: off, they see Profile not found. It does not hide your public recipes, which stay at their own links and in Explore, though your name drops off their Explore cards. See Your public profile.

Diet and allergens#

The Diet & allergens card comes after Public profile and before the Family plan card. It holds your diet, allergens and dislikes. It has its own Save diet profile button, and it is free on every plan. See Set your diet and allergies.

Household, security and data#

Emails we send#

  • Account emails. Confirming your email and resetting your password. You get these only when you ask for them.
  • Weekly digest. Only if you turn it on above.
  • Tips and trial reminders. A few short emails after you sign up, and reminders near the end of a free trial. Each one has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Common questions#

Can I change my email address?#

Settings shows your email but has no way to change it. Write to support@recipeclip.app and we will help.

My digest did not arrive.#

Check that the switch is on and the Send it to address is right, then press Send one now. Look in your spam folder too.

Did my change save?#

A short note appears at the screen edge for each change. If a change failed, the note says so and your old setting stays.
