Comments

People who open your share link can leave a comment under the recipe, and you can answer. It works like a short thread: one comment, with replies under it.

Where comments live#

Comments sit at the bottom of a recipe opened from a share link, which starts with recipeclip.app/s/. Each share link has its own thread. They also sit at the bottom of your own recipe page, which only you and the people who can open that recipe see. Public recipe links that start with /u/ have no comments. To make a link, see Share a recipe.

Anyone can read the comments. To write one, you have to be signed in.

Signed out, press Sign in in the line Sign in to leave a comment. After signing in, open the recipe link again.

Write a comment#

  1. 1

Type in Share your thoughts on this recipe… and press Post comment

Scroll to the end of the recipe. The box is under the title Comments, and Post comment is the paper-plane button at its right. The button stays pale until you type something.

You'll see: Your comment joins the list with your name and the date. The box empties.

Reply to a comment#

  1. 1

Press Reply under the comment, type your answer and press Reply again

Reply is the small link under each comment, next to Delete on your own. It opens a box that says Write a reply… with a second Reply button beside it.

You'll see: Your reply sits under the comment, indented, with a thin line at its left.

You can reply to a comment but not to a reply. Keep going by writing a new reply under the same comment.

Delete a comment#

What a delete takes with it

Deleting a comment also deletes every reply under it, including replies other people wrote. Revoking a share link deletes its whole comment thread. Neither can be undone.
  1. 1

Press Delete under your own comment

Delete only shows on comments you wrote. On a reply it is a small trash can instead. There is no confirmation and no undo.

You'll see: The comment leaves the list straight away.

Comments on your own recipe page#

Scroll to the bottom of any recipe you can open. The Comments section there has a box that says Add a comment…, and the same Reply and Delete links. Press Enter or the paper-plane button to post. With nothing yet, it says No comments yet. Be the first. Visitors from a share link do not see these, but other people can: your household, anyone you approved for the recipe, and, if the recipe is public, anyone who can open it. Write as if they will read it.

Common questions#

Can I delete a comment someone else wrote under my recipe?#

Not from the page. Each person can delete their own. If a thread is a problem, turn the link off with Revoke.

Can I edit a comment?#

No. Delete it and write it again.

Anyone with the share link can read the comments

Every comment under a share link is visible to everyone who opens that link, so do not write anything you would not say in front of them.
