1. Introduction

RecipeClip ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using RecipeClip, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: Your email address and display name when you register.
• Recipe data: Recipes you save, including titles, ingredients, instructions, photos, and URLs.
• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and general interaction patterns to help us improve the product.
• Payment information: Billing details are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card or payment details.
• Device & technical data: IP address, browser type, and device identifiers for security and analytics purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the RecipeClip service.
• Authenticate your identity and keep your account secure.
• Process payments and manage your subscription.
• Extract and organize recipe data via AI processing (photos and URLs you submit).
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts).
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve product features.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in, and they are essential for the service to work. Analytics are measured without cookies or any persistent identifier. When you create an account, we note which page or link first brought you to RecipeClip — a search engine, say, or a campaign tag on a link. Until you sign up that note stays in your current browser tab, and it never includes the full address of the site you came from — only its name, the page you landed on, and any campaign tags on the link. If you arrive through a friend’s referral link, the referral code is remembered in your browser until you sign up, so their invite can be credited. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

5. Third-Party Services

RecipeClip uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase — Database and authentication provider. Your recipe data and account information are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Data is protected with row-level security policies.
• Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe handles all billing and subscription management. We do not store payment card data. Stripe’s privacy policy governs data they collect.
• Google Gemini AI — AI-powered recipe extraction. When you upload a photo or submit a URL, the content is sent to Google’s Gemini API for processing. Only recipe content is sent — not your personal information. Google’s API data usage policy applies.
• Groq and Together.ai — AI providers used for TikTok and Instagram recipe extraction. A video’s caption or description text is sent to whichever of these responds first, with Google Gemini as a fallback if both are unavailable.
• Jina AI — page-reading service used as a fallback when a recipe link can’t be fetched directly, and to read Instagram post text where possible. Only the URL you submitted is sent to it.
• Vercel — Hosting, and cookieless web analytics. Page views are counted without cookies and without any persistent identifier, so they cannot be linked to you or followed across other sites.

The free YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram tools (/tools/youtube-to-recipe, /tools/tiktok-to-recipe, and /tools/instagram-to-recipe) work without an account. The link you paste is sent to Google Gemini the same way an account’s video import is: the video itself (up to 3 minutes), with its caption sent along as a hint, for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram alike. When a TikTok or Instagram video can’t be watched, the caption text alone goes to Groq, Together.ai, or Gemini instead, the same chain described above. To stop the tool being abused, we briefly keep a keyed cryptographic hash of your IP address — not the address itself — to enforce a daily limit; it is not linked to any account. The recipe it returns stays in your browser tab only: nothing is saved on our servers unless and until you sign up or log in and choose to save it, at which point it’s saved exactly like any other account recipe.

The RecipeClip Chrome extension reads the page you are already viewing only when you click its toolbar button — it never runs in the background and never has access to any tab you haven’t clicked on. What it reads (structured recipe data already on the page, or a trimmed excerpt of the page’s text if none exists) leaves your browser only for that one page, sent straight to RecipeClip’s own /api/import/from-page endpoint using your existing RecipeClip sign-in — the extension never stores your password. If the page didn’t already carry structured recipe data, that excerpt is processed the same way a pasted recipe URL is, through the AI providers listed above. The extension never sends your cookies, your login credentials, or any other open tab’s content — only the one page you asked it to save.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from Settings, your personal data and recipes are deleted immediately. If you request deletion by email instead, we complete it within 30 days of verifying you’re the account owner. Billing records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with tax and accounting requirements. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely. 7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"). See Delete Your Account for how.
• Portability: Export your recipe data in a portable format.
• Opt-out of sale: We do not sell personal data (CCPA).
• Withdraw consent: Opt out of non-essential data processing at any time.

8. GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your data under the following legal bases: contract performance (to provide the service), legitimate interests (security, analytics), legal obligation (tax records), and consent (marketing communications). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. CCPA (California Users)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To submit a request, contact support@recipeclip.app.

10. Children’s Privacy

RecipeClip is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the website. Your continued use of RecipeClip after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
