Log what you cooked
Each recipe has its own cooking log. Add an entry when you make the dish, and next time you will know what you thought and what you would change.
Rate a recipe in a few taps#
The fastest way to log a cook is the rating sheet. It saves today’s date. You can open it from three places.
- Rate this recipe in the More options menu on the recipe page. It is always there.
- The Log a cook link on the Cooked line under the recipe’s buttons. That line only appears after the recipe has one cook logged.
- The Cooking log section further down the page, which has its own form. See the next section.
- 1
Open More options and choose Rate this recipe
More options is the round button with three dots at the end of the row of buttons under the recipe’s description. Once the recipe has a cook logged, the Log a cook link on the Cooked line opens the same sheet. You'll see: A sheet titled How did it go? opens.

Tap the stars, and add a note if you like
You need at least one star. Notes are optional, but they are the part you will thank yourself for, such as more garlic or a lower oven. You'll see: The Save rating button turns on once you pick a star.

and the entry appears in the log.

To remove an entry
Open it and press Delete entry. Your browser asksDelete this cooking log entry?and you confirm there. This cannot be undone. Deleting an entry does not delete the recipe.
Let cook mode log it for you#
Pressing Finish on the last step adds a cook to the log by itself, and the stars on the final screen rate it. See Cook step by step.
A diary entry also adds a cook
When you log a recipe in the nutrition diary, RecipeClip adds a cook entry to that recipe’s log for the same day. If you press Finish in cook mode and then log the same dinner in your diary, the recipe can show Cooked 2 times for one meal. Delete the extra entry from the log if you want an exact count. See Log what you eat.Where your log shows up#
- On the recipe page: Cooked 3 times, the average rating, the date of the last cook and your latest note.
- In the Cooking log section below the recipe, with every entry.
- In Cook tonight, which looks at what you cooked recently.
- In your monthly recap, which counts the cooks in each month and can be shared as a card.
- In your data export. See Export your data.
The log is personal: it shows only the cooks you logged yourself, even on a recipe shared in a household.
Common questions#
Can I edit an entry?#
There is no edit button for the note or rating. To fix the date, drag the cook to the right day in Plan. The rating, note and photos stay. To change anything else, delete the entry and add it again, which loses its photos.
Tap Plan and use the arrows to reach the week. If you are in a household, tap Mine. The cook sits in its day’s row, marked COOKED, in every meal tab. Press and hold it, then drag it to another day’s row.
Click Plan and go to the week. If you are in a household, click Mine. Drag the cook in the Cooked row at the bottom of the week to the right day.
I rated a recipe twice. Which counts?#
Both. The average on the recipe page is the average of every rating you have given it.
