Change or cancel your plan

Everything about your paid plan lives on one page. You see the price before anything is charged, and a cancelled plan keeps working until the day it ends.

Open the billing page#

  1. 1

Open Settings, then press Manage billing

Manage billing is in the Plan box at the top of Settings. On a phone, tap your profile picture at the top right to reach Settings. On Pro there is also a Switch to Family button next to it. If your plan was given to you, Settings shows Active, and the billing page says only Pro — complimentary and No payment needed, with no price, renewal date, card, Change plan or Cancel plan.

You'll see: The Billing page opens.

The top box, Your plan, shows the plan, its price, a status label and what happens next. The label reads Active, Trial with the days left, Cancelling or Payment due. Below it are your card, your payment history and your invoice details. Those are in Payment methods and invoices.

Change your plan#

Moving up takes effect now. From Pro to Family you pay the difference for the rest of this billing period. From monthly to yearly a new year starts today: you pay the yearly price minus a credit for the unused days of your month, for example $59.00 minus $4.19 is $54.81, and your next payment is a year away. Moving down, from Family to Pro or from yearly to monthly, takes effect on your renewal date and nothing is charged today.

  1. 1

    Press Change plan

It is the first button under your plan.

You'll see: A box called Change your plan opens.

  2. 2

    Pick monthly or yearly

The Monthly and Yearly switch is above the cards. The card marked Current is your plan and cannot be picked.

You'll see: The prices on both plan cards switch to match.

  3. 3

    Pick Pro or Family

Tap a card. Nothing changes yet. The box lists today's charge, the new price and the next payment date. Press How we got and the amount to see the credit for the days you already paid for.

You'll see: A box under the cards says what you will pay and when.

  4. 4

    Check the price, then confirm

The button names the exact amount, for example Pay $3.00 and switch. It is charged to the card shown under the summary. Press Change card to use a different one. For a change that happens later, the button says Switch on and the date.

You'll see: A green note at the top of the page says You're on Family and the amount charged.

Leaving Family

When you switch from Family to Pro, the summary lists how many members lose Family, and when. They keep it until your renewal date. See Start a household.

Switch to yearly#

On a monthly plan, a line under your price shows how much a year would save you. For Pro that is $6.99 a month or $59 a year.

  1. 1

    Press Switch to yearly

You'll see: The Change your plan box opens with the yearly price of your plan already picked.

  2. 2

    Read the price and confirm

The summary shows what you pay today, with credit for the rest of the month you already paid. Press the confirm button when it looks right.

You'll see: The yearly plan starts now and your monthly payments stop.

Cancel your plan#

Cancelling stops the next payment. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. Nothing you saved is deleted.

  1. 1

    Press Cancel plan

On a computer it is at the right of the plan box, beside Change plan. On a phone it sits below Change plan.

You'll see: A box called Cancel Pro? or Cancel Family? opens. Nothing is cancelled yet.

  2. 2

    Read What changes

After that date you are on Free: 50 editable recipes, 20 AI imports a month, 3 collections and no AI meal planning. If you have more than 50 recipes, your newest 50 stay editable and the rest become read-only until you subscribe again. On Family, the box also says the other members lose their Pro features that day.

You'll see: The date your plan ends and what you have after it are listed.

  3. 3

    Tell us why (optional)

Tap a reason, such as Too expensive. You can skip this.

You'll see: The reason you tapped is highlighted and a box for a note appears.

  4. 4

Press Cancel and your plan name on the date

The red button spells out the date, for example Cancel Family on and the day. Press Don't cancel instead to close the box and keep everything as it is.

You'll see: The plan box shows Cancelling and a banner with the day your plan ends.

Only need it for yourself?

If you pay for Family and others are in your household, the cancel box has a Switch to Pro instead link. It opens the change-plan box with Pro picked, so you keep Pro and the other members lose Family at your renewal date.

Change your mind#

Until the end date you can undo a cancellation or a switch that you booked for later.

Keep a cancelled plan#

  1. 1

    Press Don't cancel

The button is in the banner at the top of the plan box. The next payment goes ahead on the usual date.

You'll see: The yellow banner goes away and the plan box reads Active again.

Undo a switch you booked#

When a change is set for your renewal date, a banner says Switching to your new plan with the date. Press Undo to stay on the plan you have.

Manage your household#

On Family, the plan box shows your household name and how many of the 6 places are used. Press Manage members to invite or remove people. See Invite and manage members.

Common questions#

I am in someone else's Family plan. Where is my billing?#

You do not have any. The billing page says who pays for your plan and that you have full access. Only the person who pays can change or cancel it.

The page says my last payment did not go through.#

Plan changes wait until your card is fixed. Update it first. See Payment methods and invoices.

I cannot change my plan.#

While a plan is set to end, the change-plan box asks you to press Don't cancel first. Do that, then change the plan.

Do I get a refund when I cancel?#

No. Cancelling stops the next payment and you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires it or we decide case by case. See Payment methods and invoices for how to ask.

Can I delete my account instead?#

Yes, but deleting cancels your plan at once and refunds nothing for the paid time you have left. See Delete your account.
