Payment methods and invoices

Your card, your receipts and the name on your invoices are all on the billing page. Card details are handled by Stripe, so RecipeClip never sees your card number.

Update your card#

Open Settings, press Manage billing, and scroll to Payment method. The box shows the brand, the last four digits and when the card expires. Only the person who pays for the plan sees it.

  1. 1

    Press Update card

If you have no card on file, the same place says No card on file. and the button is Add a card.

You'll see: A box called Change your card opens.

  2. 2

Check which payment the new card will pay

The line says, for example, that your next payment of a set amount on a set date goes on the new card. Nothing is charged when you save a card.

You'll see: Your current card and a line about your next payment are shown.

  3. 3

    Enter the new card

The card form under that line is Stripe's secure form. Type the card number, expiry date and security code. Your bank may ask you to confirm in its own window.

You'll see: The Save card button turns solid once the card details are complete.

  4. 4

    Press Save card

The old card is no longer used. If the save fails, your old card stays in place and the box tells you why.

You'll see: A green note says Card updated. with the new card's last four digits.

A card that expires soon#

When your card expires before your next payment, a note appears in the box. Update the card before then so your plan does not lapse.

Change your invoice details#

Invoice details is the name, email and address printed on your invoices. Your receipts are emailed to the billing email. The change applies to future invoices only. Past invoices stay as they were.

  1. 1

    Press Edit in Invoice details

The box is at the bottom of the billing page, under the payment history.

You'll see: A form called Invoice details opens.

  2. 2

Fill in Name on invoices and Billing email

Add an address below if you want one on your invoices. Apartment, suite is optional.

You'll see: Both fields are required. A message under a field says what to fix.

  3. 3

    Press Save details

Press Cancel to close the form without saving.

You'll see: A green note says Invoice details saved. Your next invoice will show them.

Download an invoice#

Payment history lists every payment, newest first, with its date, what it was for, the card used and the amount. A free trial shows as a line for $0.00 with no receipt. The first real payment is a separate line on the day the trial ends. The list shows the latest six. Press Show all to see the rest.

  1. 1

Press Invoice PDF on the payment you want

On a phone the button says Invoice. On a computer it says Invoice PDF and there is also a Receipt link that opens Stripe's receipt page.

You'll see: The PDF opens in a new tab. Save or print it from there.

A payment can also be labelled Refunded or Partly refunded, with a line saying how much went back to your card. A payment that could not be collected after retries is labelled Unpaid.

Fix a payment that did not go through#

If your card is declined at renewal, the top of the billing page says Your last payment didn’t go through and the plan box is marked Payment due. You keep your plan while this is sorted out, but Change plan waits until the payment is fixed.

  1. 1

Press Update card in the red box

You'll see: A box called Fix your payment opens.

  2. 2

    Enter a card that works

Use a different card, or the same one if your bank has now approved it.

You'll see: The button reads Save card and retry payment.

  3. 3

Press Save card and retry payment

If it works, the red box disappears and the payment shows as Paid. If it still fails, check with your bank or try another card.

You'll see: The overdue payment is tried right away. The note says whether it went through.

The unpaid payment also appears in Payment history as Payment due. Press Pay now to pay it on Stripe's page with a card of your choice.

Finish a payment your bank asked about#

Some banks ask you to approve a payment in their own window. If that step is left unfinished when you switch plans, nothing has changed yet. The billing page shows a yellow box: Your switch to Family monthly is waiting for your bank.

  1. 1

    Press Finish payment

Come back to the billing page afterwards. The plan updates once the bank confirms. The box also shows the date the request expires. After that, the change is dropped.

You'll see: Your bank's page opens in a new tab. Approve the payment there.

Changed your mind? Press Drop this change. You stay on your current plan.

Common questions#

Why can I not see a payment method?#

Only the person who pays sees the card and invoices. If you are in someone else's Family plan, or your plan was given to you, there is nothing to pay. See Change or cancel your plan.

Is my card number stored in RecipeClip?#

No. The form says it plainly: card details go straight to Stripe, and RecipeClip never sees your number.

Payment history says No payments yet.#

Each payment shows up after you start a plan. A free trial adds a $0.00 line, and the first real payment appears when the trial ends.

Can I get a refund?#

Our Terms say all fees are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund or where we decide to give one case by case. Cancelling stops the next payment and keeps your plan until the end of the period you paid for. It does not refund the current one. If you were charged by mistake, for example after a trial you meant to cancel, email support@recipeclip.app from your account address with the date and amount. A refund shows in Payment history as Refunded or Partly refunded.

The card would not save.#

The box says why, for example that the bank declined the card, the card has expired, or the security code does not match. Your old card stays in place until a new one saves. If it keeps failing, email support@recipeclip.app.
