Sign in and passwords

You can sign in with an email and password or with your Google account. If you forget your password, a link in an email lets you pick a new one.

Sign in with email and password#

   Open recipeclip.app and press Log in

   If you installed RecipeClip on your home screen, open it from there. You land on the same page when you are signed out. New here? Press Create an account at the bottom and follow Get started with RecipeClip.

   You'll see: The Welcome back page opens.

   Type your email and password

   Use the email you signed up with. Passwords are at least 6 characters.

   

   You'll see: Both boxes are filled in.

   Press Sign in

   

   You'll see: You land on your recipes.

Sign in with Google#

   Press Continue with Google

   Pick your Google account. You come back to RecipeClip signed in. The same button creates an account the first time you use it. Accounts made this way have no RecipeClip password, because Google does the signing in.

   

   You'll see: Google asks which account to use.

Forgot your password#

   Press Forgot your password?

   The link is under the Password box on the sign-in page.

   

   You'll see: The card changes to Reset your password.

   Type your email

   

   You'll see: The box holds the address you signed up with.

   Press Send reset link

   We email a link to that address. If nothing arrives in a few minutes, look in your spam folder, then press the link to send it again.

   

   You'll see: The page says Check your email for a password reset link.

   Open the link in the email

   The page checks the link for a moment first.

   

   You'll see: A page opens called Set a new password.

   Type the new password twice and press Update password

   If the two do not match you see Those two passwords don’t match. Passwords need at least 6 characters.

   

   You'll see: The page says Password updated and takes you to your recipes, already signed in.

Change your password#

You need to know your current password. If you do not, use the reset link above instead.

   Open Settings and scroll to Password

   On a phoneOn a computer

   Tap your profile picture at the top right, then scroll to Security & data.

   Click the round button with your initial at the top right (the Account menu), choose Settings, then click Security & data in the list on the left.

   

   You'll see: The boxes Current password, New password and Confirm password are shown.

   Fill in the three boxes and press Update password

   Next to the button, Forgot it? Reset it by email sends you through the reset steps above.

   

   You'll see: A note says Password updated and the boxes clear.

If the current password is wrong you see That current password isn’t right. Nothing changed. If you signed in with Google, the box says To sign in, use “Continue with Google”. instead of the three boxes.

Sign out#

   Open the account menu and choose Sign out

   On a computer, click the round button with your initial at the top right (the Account menu). On a phone, tap More in the bottom bar, then Sign out at the bottom of the list.

   

   You'll see: You land on the sign-in page.

Common questions#

It says my email and password do not match.#

You see That email and password don’t match. with a link to reset your password. Check for typos first. If you normally use Google, press Continue with Google instead.

It says to confirm my email first.#

New accounts need one click on the link in the email we send. Press Resend confirmation email if you cannot find it.

It says too many attempts.#

Wait a minute, then try again.

Can I add a password to a Google account?#

No. A Google sign-in account cannot have a password, so there is nothing to reset. Use Continue with Google each time.
