Paste the address of a recipe page or video and RecipeClip reads it for you. You get the ingredients and steps on a clean card, without the ads and pop-ups.
On a computer, click the orange Add recipe button at the top right of the page. On a phone, tap the round orange Add button in the bottom bar. It is the second of the five buttons, right after Recipes.
You'll see: The Add a recipe page opens on the Link tab.
2
Paste the address into Recipe link
Copy the address of the recipe page or video from your browser or app, then paste it into the box. The address has to start with https://.
You'll see: The address appears in the box and the Import button turns orange.
3
Press Import
Most web pages finish in under 5 seconds, so you may only glimpse the progress card. A slow page shows a counter after three seconds. Video links take longer, see the next section. Press Cancel to stop. Nothing is saved when you cancel.
You'll see: A card ticks through Reading the page, Extracting ingredients and Building card.
4
Look over the finished card
RecipeClip saves the recipe as soon as it is read, so there is no Save button to press. Tap the card to open the full recipe. Press Go to my recipes to see it at the top of your list, or Import another to paste the next link.
You'll see: The card shows the photo, title, time, servings and the first ingredients, with Saved to your library at the bottom.
Check the ingredients once
An import is an automatic reading, so glance at the amounts before you shop. You can fix anything on the recipe with Edit a recipe. Saved the wrong recipe? See Delete and restore recipes.
TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube links go in the same box. When you are signed in, RecipeClip watches the video itself and also reads the caption, on every plan. If it cannot get the video, it falls back to the caption. YouTube videos up to 20 minutes are watched.
1
Copy the video's link in its own app
Tap the Share arrow on the right edge of the video, then tap Copy link.
Tap the paper-plane Share icon under the reel or post, then tap Copy link.
Tap Share under the video, then tap Copy link.
Tap Share under the video, then tap Copy.
The wording can change between app versions. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.
You'll see: The link is on your phone's clipboard.
2
Paste it into Recipe link and press Import
Open RecipeClip, go to Add recipe and paste into the box, the same as for a web page. Then press Import.
You'll see: The card starts working, with a small play icon beside the link.
3
Keep the page open while the video is watched
Watching a video takes longer than reading a page. A video usually takes about 15 to 30 seconds. A TikTok took about 16 seconds in our test and a YouTube video about 25. After a few seconds the counter reads 5s — long pages take a moment, with the number counting up. Reading the page ticks first, then Extracting ingredients. Stay on this page until the card says Saved to your library. If the importer is busy, the link moves to the Retrying automatically list, and then you can leave. An older Retrying automatically list may already sit below the form. It is not about this import. The finished card looks like this, here for a YouTube video, with a small Video label.Open the saved recipe to see that the video was used. It shows a Video label and a Watch the video link marked From a TikTok (or the app it came from).
You'll see: The card ticks through Reading the page, Extracting ingredients and Building card, then ends with Saved to your library.
A creator who never says or writes the recipe leaves nothing to read. If the video only shows the cooking, you may get a message that the caption has no recipe in it. Try a YouTube link to the same dish, or see When an import is slow or fails.
Have the video file on your phone instead? That needs Pro or Family, and is covered in Upload a cooking video.
Paste more than one address, one per line. The helper line under the box counts them (for example, 3 links detected) and the button changes to Import 3 links. They import one after another, and each gets its own card.
If the same link is already in your library, RecipeClip stops and shows You already saved this. Press View recipe to open the one you have. Press Save a copy anyway only if you want a second copy.
Any recipe page that is open to the public. A few sites block automatic readers, and that can change from day to day. When one does, you see That site blocked the import and a Use Photo button. Screenshot the recipe and add it on the Photo tab, or type it in on the Manual tab.
Yes, each link counts as one AI import. Free accounts get 20 a month. Pro and Family get 100 a day. On a Free account, a line under the Add recipe heading shows what is left, such as 14 of 20 AI imports left · Resets Nov 3. See Free, Pro and Family.
No. The box only reads web addresses. If you see That isn’t a link, check that the address starts with https://. To save text you have, use Type in a recipe, or take a photo or screenshot of it.
On an Android phone where you installed RecipeClip from Chrome, RecipeClip can appear in the share sheet. A shared link opens Add recipe and imports it. See Put RecipeClip on your home screen.
