Get started with RecipeClip

Make an account and save your first recipe in about five minutes. The free plan costs nothing.

Create your account#

  1. 1

    Open recipeclip.app/signup

Or open the home page and press Start free — no card needed. That opens the Welcome back sign-in form, so press Create an account under it. To skip the password, press Continue with Google on the form instead.

You'll see: The Create your account form opens.

  2. 2

    Type your email in Email

  3. 3

    Choose a password in Password

Use at least 6 characters. The eye icon shows what you typed.
  4. 4

    Press Create account

You'll see: RecipeClip opens a short setup, described next.

If you see Check your inbox

Open the message we sent and press its link. Nothing there? Check spam, or press Resend email.

Set up your kitchen#

The setup has four screens: Taste, Name, Cooks and Go. Each one can be skipped. You can change your food picks and who you follow later in Settings, but a username is permanent once you choose it.

  1. 1

Taste: tap the foods you cook, then press Continue

Chips such as Gluten-free or Dairy-free only tune suggestions and set no allergen. Set allergies in Settings › Diet & allergens.

You'll see: Chosen chips turn orange. Picking nothing is fine.

  2. 2

Name: pick a username, or press Skip

A username you choose here is permanent. If you press Skip, RecipeClip picks a handle for you the first time you make a recipe public, and you can choose your own once in Settings, under Preferences and Public profile. After that it is permanent too.

You'll see: Your handle appears in links you share, as recipeclip.app/u/yourname.

  3. 3

Cooks: press Follow on any cook you like, then Continue

What they publish shows up when you want something new to make.
  4. 4

Go: press Import my first recipe

You'll see: The Add a recipe page opens.

In a hurry? Press Skip setup at the top right of any screen. To see the setup again, open Settings, go to Preferences and press Replay it.

Save your first recipe#

Start with a recipe you already love. A link from a recipe site, TikTok, Instagram or YouTube works.

  1. 1

    Open Add recipe

On a computer, click the orange Add recipe button at the top right. On a phone, tap the orange Add button, second from the left in the bottom bar.

You'll see: The Add a recipe page opens on the Link tab.

  2. 2

Paste the link into Recipe link

You'll see: The Import button turns on.

  3. 3

Press Import and open your recipes

The Import button is at the bottom of the box. When the card says Saved to your library, press Go to my recipes.

You'll see: A recipe card appears with the photo, ingredients and steps. It is already saved to your library.

For a TikTok or Instagram video, open the post in that app, tap Share, then Copy link, and paste it the same way. Videos take longer than blog links. Other ways to save, and what to do when an import fails, are in Save a recipe from a link or video.

Find your way around#

On a computer the menu runs along the top: Recipes, Plan, Grocery, Collections, Explore and Tools, with the Add recipe button at the right. On a phone the bottom bar has Recipes, Add, Plan, Grocery and More.

  • Recipes: your library, with search, favorites and tags.
  • Add or Add recipe: save a new recipe.
  • Plan and Grocery: a week calendar and the shopping list built from it.
  • Explore: recipes other cooks made public, which you can search and filter. See Explore other cooks’ recipes.
  • Tools on a computer, More on a phone: What can I cook?, Nutrition and Pantry. On a phone, More also holds Explore, Collections, Household, Help and Settings.
